A nice try, but keep in mind your camera has a very narrow latitude range when it comes to light. So when taking a picture where their is going to be deep shadows like this(due to the light source coming from behind them), try to find a white object to place in front of them just to the right of your camera(since the main light source, the sun, is behind and to their left)and as close as you can get it without it being in the picture to bounce light back on their faces and their body's in this kind of a setting.
